An easy-to-read, interactive map of energy sources in Canada — a diverse range, oil sands to wind and geothermal — has gone online for industry users and a curious public.
The Canadian Centre for Energy Information’s energy map is an electronic compilation of maps showing the energy potential of the world’s fifth largest energy producer.
“Demand for reliable, bias-balanced energy information is at an all-time high, and through the Energy Map, the Centre for Energy helps to address that
demand,” said Dave Carson, vice president of the Centre for Energy.
The Energy Map details oil and gas reserves and production plus pipelines, refineries, nuclear plants, hydro, thermal, coal, wind and tidal facilities. A quick peak by Scandoil.com did not reveal shale reserves.
Of Canada’s 33.3 million people, about one percent or 345,000 work in the energy sector.
