Benestad

Norwegian oilfield supplier Benestad will present his sophisticated Subsea Power Penetrators at booth No. 5141, the Norwegian Pavillion

The Power Penetrators are a part of the company's glass- or ceramic-to-metal seal offering. The company has supplied the subsea industry since 1993.

The Power Penetrators developed for the Troll Pilot Project (12kV / 400A) are used for the Framo Pumps and the ABB (Vetco) MECON connector and have functioned perfectly since installation in 1998.

Benestad is experiencing tremendous interest in the power penetrators. High pressure and gas compression applications are the main reason, but also a general requirement of high reliability.

Benestad is working closely with leading companies in the industry on a range of Power Penetrators for high pressure and gas wells.

The 12kV / 700A penetrator, qualified in 2002, is the basis for an expanding product range that will lead to a 6 kV / 400A penetrator qualified to 15 000 psi working pressure. Benestad is also planning a 2000A Power Penetrator.

The company is also developing a penetrator termination system for gas compression applications. The system is patent-pending and recently won a contract for the StatoilHydro’s Åsgard gas compression system, where it will be applied for the first time.
