StatoilHydro receives award at OTC

Morten Ruud, StatoilHydro’s executive vice president for Projects, received the distinguished achievement award for the Ormen Lange project at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston on 6 May.

The OTC award committee chose Ormen Lange for being an innovative subsea-to-shore development which overcame significant technical challenges to become Norway’s deepest offshore development.

Morten Ruud was honored to receive the award, and said that the project was only possible by the project team, the contractors, and suppliers delivering to the highest standard and working towards the same goal at his speech at the award luncheon.

“StatoilHydro has proven that we value and initiate technological development which enables us to deliver projects like Ormen Lange. The Norwegian continental shelf has served as our laboratory for new technology and has given us great projects to develop. Now we are taking this experience with us as we grow internationally,” Mr Ruud said.

StatoilHydro is currently operating major projects internationally including Canadian oil sands, Peregrino offshore Brazil, and is a partner in the Shtokman development in Arctic Russia.
