Fisher Offshore, the lifting, deck machinery and subsea excavation specialist, has invested £5 million in upgrading its facilities, operations and equipment.

The seven figure sum has been ploughed into the company’s 11 acre site in Oldmeldrum, encompassing its yard, office buildings, workshops and equipment. A further £1 million has been earmarked for the addition of mechanical lifting and associated deck equipment to strengthen Fisher’s existing rental fleet of 1,100, which currently boasts the largest pool of mechanical lifting equipment in the UK.

The upgrades have earned Fisher two internationally-recognised accreditations for health and safety and environmental practices, in addition to a previously-gained ISO 9001 award for quality standards. The ISO 14001 accreditation for environmental practices and OHSAS 18001 for health and safety were awarded by global certification body DNV.

Managing Director Ian Diack said: “This is a significant investment for the company that will allow us to strengthen our service provisions to customers. We pride ourselves on having the largest, most comprehensive rental fleet in the UK and adding to this will further increase our product choice and availability, enabling us to respond to the most urgent customer demands.
