Norway's NPD reports that BP Norge, operator of production licence PL212 E, has completed drilling of wildcat well 6507/3-9 S. The well proved gas. The discovery was made about 20 kms north of the Skarv field and about5 kms east of the Marulk field.
The objective of the well was to prove gas in Upper Cretaceous reservoir rocks (the Lysing formation). The well proved gas in the Lysing formation with reservoir rocks and reservoir quality as expected. Preliminary estimates place the size of the discovery at between 1.2 and 2.3 billion standard cubic metres (Sm3) of recoverable gas.
