Statoil has has handed out five-year contracts for pipeline coating services worth NOK3 billion ($515 million) with Bredero, Socotherm and Eupec, the oil company heralded Friday.

The jobs, which come with two, two-year options, mostly include concrete weight coatings, but also anti-corrosion and thermal insulation coatings for steel piping. Bredero had been the oil company’s sole supplier of concrete weight coatings.

Statoil’s selection process includes a praactice stipulation and the categorizing of suppliers into 64 groups.

Big project-related deliveries of the near future are expected at the Gjøa and Snøhvit fields, but “The greatest need will …be in relation to future development of infrastructure for gas deliveries to the continent,” a statement said.
