U.S. lawmakers have gained assent for a bill aimed at putting more natural-gas vehicles on the market with research and development which aims to do what carbon taxes and noxious emissions have done for the deployment of natural-gas-powered ships in Norway.
The bill authorizes $30 million a year over the next four years for natural-gas vehicle R&D.
While the Senate and President Barack Obama must sign the bill into the law, it appears the Secretary of Energy will soon be overseeing a five-year program of natural gas vehicle research and development while coordinating with the the Environmental Protection Agency toward a new certification system for converting older motors to natural-gas.
“(Natural-gas vehicles) can make an even greater impact on displacing foreign oil while reducing greenhouse gases and urban pollution,” said Richard Kolodziej, president of NGVAmerica. He has an ally in the bill’s sponsor, Republican John Sullivan, a “champion” in support of natural gas vehicles.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised by this. After all, foreign cars definitely sell well here in the United States, and what's more is that foreign car companies haven't been hurt as much as the companies expected. Well, I guess it's good to see that there is still good news for some companies out there.
