A new business behind a new technology which delivers clean, dry, temperate and continuously monitored safe breathing air to offshore workers operating in potentially explosive environments has launched in Aberdeen.

Air2Work plans to invest £1.5 million over the next year, bringing its patented breathing air delivery systems, developed by Norwegian parent company E Innovation, to the UK market. They also expect to recruit up to six new staff.

The system is the first available to the industry, which combines an oil-free air compressor, seven-stage air filtration and conditioning unit, with two stage temperature control, safe for use in ATEX Zone 1 environments.

The system also includes real-time air quality monitoring equipment and an emergency back-up air source in a portable, easily manoeuvrable unit, designed for use on offshore platforms and vessels as well as at land-based worksites.
