Artificial Lift Company

The Artificial Lift Company Ltd. (ALC) has promoted Dr. Hassan Mansir to Vice President of Engineering and Technology.

Dr. Mansir has been with ALC since early 2009 as design manager. In his new role, Dr. Mansir will be responsible for all ALC engineering and technology development. Dr. Mansir will apply his rich experience in the aerospace and energy industries as he continues to oversee the growth of the design department and enhancement and expansion of the company’s permanent magnet motor range.

Phil Head, technology director for ALC, said, “Hassan brings a wealth of experience from the aerospace industry where compact, highly reliable permanent magnet motors are increasingly being used. He will lead the continued development and enhancement of our own range of motors at Artificial Lift Co., which will bring new levels of reliability to oilfield electric submersible pumps.”

The ALC motors developed in Dr. Mansir’s technology group utilise the same advanced design tools as permanent magnet motors used on the Boeing Dreamliner and the Airbus A380 airplanes. The motor line, which was developed before Dr. Mansir’s arrival, has to survive arduous testing programs and is ideally suited for use in ESPs.

With more than 25 years industrial experience, across a number of sectors including energy and aerospace, Dr. Mansir holds 11 patents in the area of electrical machines, controls and power electronics. He has amassed extensive experience in the manufacture and design of electric machines, power electronics and systems.

“Hassan’s expertise in motor design is almost unrivalled in the industry and has brought major benefits to Artificial Lift Co.,” said ALC President Geoff Kimber-Smith. “Hassan’s time at ALC has been immensely successfully and his knowledge of magnet motors has allowed us to continue the development of our own industry-leading range. Hassan’s promotion will ensure a smooth transition from the engineering stage to manufacturing process and allow for continuous development of ALC’s next-generation motors.”

Dr. Mansir has an Engineering Doctorate from Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble and Ecole Centrale de Lyon France.
