Lundin spuds fifth appraisal well 16/2-13 on Johan Sverdrup PL501

Lundin Petroleum finds oil in Norway

Lundin Petroleum report that its wholly owned subsidiary Lundin Norway AS (Lundin Norway) has commenced the drilling of the appraisal well 16/2-13 on the north eastern part of the Johan Sverdrup discovery.

The well is located 2.5 km north east of the discovery well 16/2-6 made in 2010 and the main objective is to determine the top reservoir, reservoir quality and thickness, and oil water contact in this of part of the field.

The planned total depth is 2,150 metres. The well will be drilled with the semi submersible drilling rig Transocean Arctic and is expected to take approximately 45 days.
