Oil Search reports that the semi-submersible rig, Stena Clyde, spudded the Hagana 1 well on 7 June 2013. The well is located offshore PNG in PPL 244 in the Gulf of Papua.
As at 06:00 hours PNG time on 13 June, the Hagana 1 well was at a depth of 703 metres and pressure testing the 20' casing, having drilled a 26' hole and installed the 30' conductor.
The Hagana prospect lies approximately 225 kilometres west-northwest of Port Moresby and 10 kilometres northeast from Flinders 1 in a water depth of approximately 105 metres. The primary objective is a submarine, basin-floor fan sandstone of Pleistocene age, with a Pliocene age secondary objective. The well's planned depth is approximately 3,300 metres and it is expected to take approximately 40 days to drill.
