An investment of almost NOK 3 billion and 2.3 million hours worked in the Kollsnes project (KOP) have left this process plant near Bergen well equipped to meet future requirements.

Carried out while the facility remained in full operation, the refurbishment has been completed on schedule, within budget and in conformity with health, safety and environmental targets.

“This upgrade provides greater security of gas supply for Europe and safeguards Kollsnes into the future,” comments Alvin Hansen, vice president for process plants at operator Gassco.

“We see that completing the modules outside the facility has reduced both risk and costs. The installation phase was therefore implemented very effectively.”
