Gassco chief executive; Brian Bjordal-2

14 May it is ten years since Gassco was founded by the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy in Norway.

The white paper approved by the Parliament prior to the creation in 2001, declared that the company should be independent and responsible for operating the gas transport system on the Norwegian continental shelf, and be independent and neutral in relation to all users.

By the end of 2001, Gassco had one employee, the new company's CEO and President, Brian Bjordal. "Gassco's first annual report form 2001 says that the working environment in the company at the time was regarded as satisfactory. Today we have 325 employees and an even better working environment. The Gassco story is all about ten fantastic years with attention to safety, security of supply, high regularity and enhancing robustness. In simple terms, operational excellence and moving forward towards an exciting future.”

878 bcm in ten years “Since we took over as operator in 2002, 878 bcm dry gas has been delivered through the transport system to Europe. That's 148 bcm more than the total volume of gas delivered during the first 25 years of Norwegian gas export." says Mr. Bjordal.

"The results our organisation has achieved makes me proud. There is no lack of important milestones reached during Gassco's first ten years. The continuous expansions of the system, the growth in deliveries, exciting world class projects like the Langeled pipeline, the extensive upgrading of the processing facilities and not to forget, delivering in line with expectations through safe, efficient and reliable daily operations.”

“I must also give credit to the owners and users of the system for their contribution to the success. Our intension is to work constructively and actively with the community of shippers, owners and authorities to secure long term value creation for the Norwegian gas industry."

The future is about a business in change “The world scene and our society are changing all the time and we must keep ahead of it. The outside world can’t be expected to adjust to us. We’ve got to adapt in step with our immediate surroundings and the wider world. History is important because it tells you who you are. But perhaps it is even more important to be curious and open to embrace the future. In that way, you will better understand what to expect and have the right perspective when facing challenges. The future is about a business in change" Mr. Bjordal notes.
