Heerema Vlissingen, one of the three fabrication locations of Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG), has been awarded a letter of intent for the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) of the approximately 9,200 tonnes Valemon jacket destined for the Statoil Valemon gasfield on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
The approximately 9,200 tonnes Valemon jacket will be fabricated at HFG’s Vlissingen yard in the Netherlands with a planned delivery in May 2012. The jacket will be approximately 157 meters tall with a footprint of 45 x 45 meters and a top of 26 x 30 meters. A letter of intent for the transport and installation of the jacket has been awarded to our sister division Heerema Marine Contractors. The jacket will be installed in a water depth of approximately 135 meters. Valemon is a gas and condensate field between Kvitebjørn and Gullfaks South in the Norwegian North Sea, about 160 kilometres west of Bergen, Norway.
Tino Vinkesteijn, Managing Director of Heerema Zwijndrecht and Heerema Vlissingen says: “We are extremely pleased and grateful having been awarded the Valemon jacket letter of intent by Statoil, as the FEED study of our engineering company HFG Engineering Europe was the basis for this award. The strength of HFG is in its capability to integrate the engineering process with practical fabrication design, making it cost and time efficient for our client. By focusing on constructability, we are also able to reduce safety risks associated with fabrication.” Tino continues: “With the addition of this contract and the ongoing projects of our client RWE Dea at our Vlissingen location, continuous stable employment and additional supply-chain jobs are secured until mid 2012.”
“We are proud that the combined engineering and fabrication capabilities we demonstrated during the FEED study and tender period have contributed to the confidence of Statoil for this letter of intent award, as the Valemon jacket project is an important and critical part of the total field development. Our knowledge, experience and capabilities, as well as achieving a timely jacket delivery, were recognized as critical success factors for the execution of this project by Statoil’, concludes Remco van Gilst, Manager Commercial and Sales of HFG.
