A high-level delegation from the General Command of Dubai Police visited Drydocks World- Dubai recently. The team was led by H.E. Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police. The delegation was received by H.E. Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World and Ali Bin Towaih, Vice President – Business Development, Administration & Strategies.

The delegation discussed the latest developments, innovative business strategies and plans to raise the level of maritime activity in the Middle East region. They also focused on the importance of port security and readiness to enhance the credibility and effectiveness of the shipyard, which is the largest and most prolific shipyards, in the Middle East. The strategic importance of the shipyard, which is located at one of the world’s busiest shipping routes, was widely acknowledged.

The Group also discussed the recent focus on oil and gas industries and building offshore support vessels and platforms. The yard is the preferred choice for the maintenance of ships and offshore equipment and structures including conversion and new building. H.E. Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim expressed keen interest in the latest projects including the conversion of an LNG carrier to a Floating Storage Re-gasification Unit for an Italian company and the conversion of two tankers-to-Modular Capture Vessels to work off the Gulf of Mexico. The shipyard is also building the world’s largest Offshore Power platform structure for supporting power distribution to Germany.

The visitors later toured the Drydocks World facility and adjoining Dubai Maritime City (DMC) and expressed consistent interest in the operations and procedures, system facilities including the capacity and energy capacity, and other specialized services for the marine industries.
