Knowledge Reservoir has reported a major upgrade to its North Sea Reservoir Knowledge Base.
The North Sea dataset is available as a module within the company's ReservoirKB© web portal service, and may be subscribed to independently, or at a discounted rate with other modules. The North Sea module presently includes field data for the UK and Norwegian sectors, and UK onshore, with future additions planned. This upgrade will include a migration to the GIS based KBFrameworkSM engine that currently runs the Gulf of Mexico module. In addition Knowledge Reservoir will focus an expanded team of engineers and geologists to provide analysis, case studies, and statistics on key data and fields.
The upgraded module, due for release in January 2011, will feature significant improvements in both application design and content, to include:
• a completely redesigned user interface
• new user-defined tables
• new user-defined charts
• new user-defined statistics
• GIS map navigation
ReservoirKB represents the most comprehensive knowledge base directed towards exploration and appraisal geoscientists and engineers in the North Sea area. It provides coverage of all productive sands discovered, constituting reservoirs currently either in production or sanctioned for development. Additionally, the service provides continually updated reservoir performance metrics, analogs, lessons learned and regional knowledge, not available from any other single source. The knowledge base provides a unique combination of reservoir engineering data, geological description, production data analysis and regional knowledge.
Clients may also leverage ReservoirKB and the KBFramework by deploying secure servers in-house to store, manage, and compare proprietary data with the data and data analysis stream provided by Knowledge Reservoir. This model leverages internal security systems to keep client data safe, while providing their engineering, geologic, and other subsurface technical staff with a single stop for current asset status, up-to date analogs, play and regional data, and both internal and external best practices, case studies, and literature, etc. With an extendable data model to manage structured and unstructured data, and an interface built by and for integrated asset teams, this solution provides a framework to ensure that the client's teams can access all data of immediate interest, and also highlights other key knowledge related to specific prospect, appraisal and or development evaluation needs.
Dr. Ivor R. Ellul, CEO of Knowledge Reservoir, stated 'We are very pleased to make this upgrade to the ReservoirKB North Sea module, with content and an interface consistent with the Gulf of Mexico service, originally developed in response to operators' need for a knowledge base of reservoir data to evaluate projects, assess risks and measure them against other opportunities in their portfolios. Our clients find it an invaluable resource when researching analog fields, as reservoir assessment and benchmarking are at the heart of good appraisal and sanction decisions.'
