Leighton Offshore has relaunched the Leighton Mynx crane barge following its recent upgrade.

Leighton Offshore has completed the upgrade in line with Leighton's policy of operating a fleet of vessels compliant to the ISPS (International Special Purpose Shipping) code.

The upgrade covered the accommodation, modifications to bring the vessel to full compliance with the ISPS code and improvements to suit latest class requirements, operational and client needs.

The Mynx is an integral part of the Leighton vessel fleet, which also includes the Leighton Eclipse and Leighton Stealth pipelay vessels, and the upgrade forms part of our strategic vision for the business."

The scope of work for the upgrade included the installation of new accommodation facilities for 165 persons, CAP437 compliant heli deck, additional hull strengthening, new 50MT mooring winches and winch control system, and new services to suit the upgraded configuration including three new 820kW main generators and one 520kW emergency generator.

Along with the barge enhancements, Mynx has also taken delivery of a new Manitowoc 16000 Crawler Crane (400MT capacity). This crane is designed for offshore use and is an extremely versatile unit, giving Mynx a real offshore lifting advantage over many similar vessels.

Mynx is now being mobilized to North-West India where she will undertake works associated with the Mangala Pipeline Project for Cairn Energy India Limited
