Move One Logistics report the successful completion of its latest delivery of specialist heavy cargo, transporting an advanced bridge-building vehicle from the United Kingdom to Camp Leatherneck in Afghanistan.
The full name for this unusual military support vehicle is Dry Support Bridge (DSB) Launcher. Weighing in at over 42,00 kilos, the DSB Launcher, built by WFEL Systems, is as heavy as it is technically advanced.
The DSB Launcher can independently bridge a 46 meter gap robustly enough to support military vehicles, and do it so in less than 90 minutes. It was used extensively during Operation Iraqi Freedom by allied forces. The specialist vehicle is vital not only in its support of military operations in hostile territory, but in assisting engineers to repair essential infrastructural and civil utilities.
“The 42 ton launcher was successfully received from the UK and delivered to the military site on the base, all ahead of schedule. This giant may be designed to get convoys wherever they need to be, but the vehicle also needs to be transported before it can be put to work. This is where Move One gets involved. ” said Stephen McKinney, Move One Logistics’ Station Manager at Camp Leatherneck.
In 2001, Move One was the first international logistics company to operate in newly liberated Afghanistan, supporting US and Coalition Forces, as well as humanitarian efforts. With years of invaluable experience in some of the most dangerous and challenging regions in the world, the company today has eleven facilities in the country, and has the unique experience and resources necessary to handle any logistical requirement in the region. Services range from secure convoys, warehousing and online shipment tracking to air, sea, road and rail services, as well as purchase order management.
