Noise and vibration attenuation is an increasingly important subject in international shipping and the shipbuilding industry. This June the maritime industry will have the opportunity to benefit from two unique training courses: The renewed master training ‘Onboard Noise and Vibration’ in cooperation with MARIN, TNO and Loggers BV, and the new basic course on the same topic, organised by Rubber Design BV. These new courses guarantee an unparalleled knowledge exchange thanks to the close cooperation between the knowledge sector and businesses.

Controlling noise and vibrations Noise and vibration have a negative effect on onboard systems, crew, the environment and the vessel itself. Knowledge of these issues is essential to remain competitive and meet the increasingly strict laws and regulations in this field. The fast development and application of electronics onboard, for example, have increased the need for expertise in controlling noise and vibration. Damage to vessels and the resulting consequences for the environment and crew safety underline the importance of know-how on this subject. Noise and vibrations are also very tiring for the crew, which in turn has a negative impact on the safety and productivity onboard.

Onboard Noise and Vibration

The English master training is a joint initiative of HME in cooperation with MARIN and TNO, and takes place on 12 and 13 June 2012 in Delft. In addition to a solid theoretical foundation, Loggers BV will illustrate the latest and most innovative developments in practice. 'Onboard Noise and Vibration' is mainly focused on engineers, naval architects, R&D managers and instructors/teachers.
