The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate released preliminary production figures for January 2012 that indicate an average daily production of about 2,037,000 barrels of oil, natural gas liquids and condensate. This figure was 47,000 barrels greater than that reported for December 2011.

Total gas sales were about 396 billion cubic feet (11.2 billion standard cubic meters), which was around 24.7 Bcf (0.7 billion cubic meters) more than the previous month.

The NPD said that the average daily liquid production in January was 1,681,000 barrels of oil, 276,000 barrels of NGL and 80,000 barrels of condensate. Final production figures from December 2011 show an average daily production of about 1,665,000 barrels of oil, 386,000 barrels of NGL and condensate.

The organization added that total oil production for January is slightly above its prognosis for the year in spite of a handful of fields – including Eldfisk, Gullfaks Sør, Oseberg Øst, Njord and Snorre og Åsgard – reducing production during the month due to technical problems.
