Produced water treatment and oil separation specialist, Opus, has declared the new appointment of a Business Development Manager.

Opus has employed Rik Dawson in the role, which will enable the company to further cement its position as a global leader in the produced water industry.

Rik, 31, joins the company from Advanced Sensors Ltd – where he was involved in introducing new technologies to the sector – and brings with him a wealth of experience, having gained valuable exposure to a variety of relevant offshore markets, most recently playing a key role in developing the brand and global presence for specialised oil in water analysers.

During his career to date, Rik has formed and built strong relationships with major oil operators across the globe – in South America, the North Sea, the Middle East, Far East and Canada – which he will capitalise on in his new position at Opus.

His role with the company will entail delivering strategic growth for Opus in new markets and developing his industry knowledge and contacts to attract new business and help ensure the future growth of the company.

Rik says he is delighted to be joining Opus, as he feels the company is in a strong position to capitalise on ever tightening environmental regulations and increasingly mature fields producing for longer with higher water cut.

He said: “I am extremely excited to be joining the impressive Opus team at a time when separation efficiency and produced water management is becoming an increasingly challenging consideration for oil producers in all countries.

“Regulations for environmental compliance, aimed at minimising the impact of companies’ operations on the environment, are becoming ever stricter and Opus has the specialised experience and technology for Produced Water Management. The proprietary Mare’s Tail and CFU technologies deliver discharge quality produced water with reliable operation.
