Produced water treatment and oil and gas separation specialist, Opus, has declared the recent securing of a series of contracts totalling around £2.3M in value.

The leading technology and solution provider, which has bases in Guildford and on Flotta, Orkney, has been commissioned to carry out a range of new projects for multinational corporations, including Apache North Sea, Bluewater and EnQuest.

The company is set to continue its relationship with oil and gas exploration and production company, Apache North Sea, having been commissioned to carry out four new projects – worth a combined value of more than £900,000 – onboard the Forties Alpha and Charlie platforms.

This work includes a revisit to earlier process studies on the facility’s production separators and involves the replacement of the vessel internals with improved Opus designs to meet changing field conditions and improve performance.

Opus has also secured contracts, in excess of £750,000, for the process design and supply of new internals and equipment for the upgrade of the separation and produced water systems on installations offshore Malaysia.

Opus has been invited back to work on the Bluewater Haewene Brim FPSO (floating production storage and offloading) vessel, having last year installed a complete set of new internals to enhance the performance of the first stage production separator. The work-scope on this second-phase project, which is valued at almost £270,000, included the design and installation of internals in the test separator.

The firm has also been awarded work through offshore engineering and operations company, Petrofac – working on behalf of oil development and production company, EnQuest – to undertake engineering projects onboard the Thistle platform.

Tying up the recent series of projects, the company is also set to commission its skid-mounted CFU (compact flotation unit) on the FPSO Maersk Peregrino. Opus delivered their compact flotation technology in 2009 and this phase of the project, worth £45,000, will see the technology put into active use.
