Petsec Energy advice that the third well on the Marathon gas/condensate field, located in the shallow waters of the Atchafalaya Bay along the Louisiana Gulf Coat, USA has reached 14,700 feet (4,480 metres) measured depth and has set 9 5/8 inch protective casing.

The well, which spud on 4 March 2012, will serve as a further development well for the field and will have similar productive capacity to the initial two wells. It is expected to take a further 6 weeks to reach total depth, log and complete the well.

The company anticipates that new pipeline facilities will be completed by this time to allow higher production rates from all current wells.
