Scarabeo 8

The Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) on May 4 granted Saipem SpA Norwegian Branch (Saipem) an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) for the Scarabeo 8 (UDW semisub) mobile drilling facility.

Scarabeo 8 is a semisubmersible drilling facility with a Moss CS 50 MkII design. It was built at the Fincantieri Shipyard in Palermo, Italy and completed at Westcon's shipyard in Ølensvåg in Hordaland in 2011.

The facility is winterised, i.e. equipped for operations in Arctic waters. It is designed to operate in water depths from 70 to 3050 metres.

Scarabeo 8 is owned and operated by Saipem SpA Norwegian Branch.

The facility is registered in the Bahamas and Det Norske Veritas is the classification society.
