Punj Lloyd led consortium awarded pipeline project in Malaysia

A Consortium led by Punj Lloyd Limited has been awarded the Sabah Sarawak Gas Pipeline Project by Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary company of Petronas, the state Oil and Gas Major in Malaysia.

The other Consortium partners are Dialog E & C Sdn Bhd and Petrosab Logistik Sdn Bhd from Malaysia. The Project was awarded after intense international competition from 6 other European and Chinese companies. This will be the largest pipeline project in Malaysia which runs more than 512 Kms through dense plantations and mountains in the states of Sabah and Sarawak in Eastern Malaysia Borneo island.

The scope of work of the project involves the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of a 512 km, 36 inch diameter onshore natural gas pipeline and associated facilities (metering station, compressor station, telecommunication equipment and operation offices) from the proposed Sabah Oil and Gas Terminal (SOGT) in Kimanis, Sabah to the PETRONAS Liquefied Natural Gas Complex in Bintulu, Sarawak. The gas pipeline will run approximately 90 km in Sabah state and 422 km in Sarawak state. The estimated value of the project is in excess of USD 500 Million (Rs 2015 crores) and Punj Lloyd will perform the Engineering, Procurement and Construction of the complete project with local support from consortium partners.

The Project is expected to commence immediately with a 36 months’ project duration and is expected to be completed by March 2011. This is one of the largest orders of Punj Lloyd Group.

Congrats to Punj Lloyd. We are based in Miri, Sarawak..nearby Bintulu. We are providing services (like handling of applications for Work Permit) to non-local(non-Sarawakians) who comes to work in the state (Mandatory requirement of the State Immigration Laws).

We therefore hope to assist the company in that area.
