Rex W. Tillerson, chairman and chief executive officer of Exxon Mobil Corporation, will be recognized by the World Affairs Council of Houston at its annual benefit on Monday, April 19.
Each year, the Council honors a member of the community who - in the spirit of Jesse and Mary Gibbs Jones - has contributed to the international life of the city. Past recipients include Doug Foshee, El Paso Corporation; Forrest Hoglund, EOG Resources; and Joe B. Foster, Newfield Exploration Company.
Mr. Tillerson will receive the award at a luncheon where he will address Council members on The Future of Energy and the Role of Corporate Citizenship. He will discuss business's role in global progress and economic development, as well as the energy industry's record in supplying energy for growth and reducing environmental impacts worldwide. After his public presentation, he will meet privately with college students as part of the Council's Conversations with History series.
A non-partisan educational charity, the World Affairs Council seeks to promote America's understanding of the world through events for the community and schools.
ExxonMobil has supported the educational programs of the World Affairs Council for many years.
