RWE Dea in North Sea

RWE Dea Norge has been awarded three promising licenses in the recent APA 2010 licensing round by the Norwegian Ministery of Petroleum and Energy, of which one is in the North Sea and two are in the Norwegian Sea. This strengthens the company's long-term commitment on the Norwegian Shelf.

Licence PL 582, Blocks 6204/10 and 6204/11, was awarded to RWE Dea Norge as operator with a 40% share. In these blocks the company has defined promising opportunities in Cretaceous sandstone reservoirs. In License PL 589, Blocks 6406/2 and 6406/5, RWE Dea Norge was awarded 30% as partner. This license is seen as a follow-up of the recent Zidane gas discovery made by RWE Dea Norge as operator in summer 2010. Both licenses are situated in the Norwegian Sea.

In License PL 566S, Blocks 2/8, 2/9 and 2/11, RWE Dea was awarded a 30% share as partner. Two promising Cretaceous structures and several other leads have been definded in these blocks. This license is situated in the North Sea.

These three new licenses add up to RWE Dea Norge's already promising and solid license portfolio in Norway. "Our engagement in the North Sea and the Norwegian Sea stresses our long-term commitment on the Norwegian Shelf," said Hugo Sandal, Managing Director of RWE Dea Norge. "We'll start immediately with the preparation of the exploration activities in these new licenses."
