RWE Dea in Egypt

About four weeks after spud-in the Quellenburg 1 well, located in Lower Saxony between Wesendorf and Wagenhoff, reached the potential oil bearing formation.

The Dogger sandstone reservoir was encountered in the expected thickness at a depth of about 1,500 meters. Although the reservoir properties were of good quality, the sandstone layer was not found oil bearing.

The data obtained from the wells Quellenburg 1 and the previously drilled Herzogsbrunnen 1 will be evaluated in cooperation with the RWE Dea Laboratory in Wietze. These studies will provide RWE Dea more information about the geological regional conditions. Based on these results, a decision concerning further wells in this region will be made in midterm future.

On completion of the Quellenburg 1, the well will be plugged, and the well site will be completely recultivated.
