In line with the transition announced on 31 March 2009, Santos Chairman Stephen Gerlach says he will step down as Chairman of the Company, ahead of his scheduled retirement from the Board of Directors on 31 December.
Having completed a comprehensive transition program, Deputy Chairman Peter Coates will take up the role of Chairman from today.
Mr Coates said after eight years as Chairman and 20 years as a Director, Mr Gerlach left the company with a clear set of strategic priorities, an exciting pipeline of growth projects, a sound balance sheet, impressive executive talent and high quality partners.
“Under Stephen’s leadership, the Board has overseen the transformation of Santos from a Cooper Basin-focused domestic business to one on the cusp of becoming a major energy supplier to Australia and Asia.”
