Sercel has confirmed the successful deployment of its new satellite-positioned DSUGPS sensor on its first commercial seismic project. Some 9,250 DSUGPS units configured in single 428XL links were deployed by Comesa to acquire a PEMEX seismic survey in southern Mexico. An additional 750 Sercel DSU3BV units were used in the marshy areas of the prospect.

As a member of the Sercel 428XL family, the DSUGPS is unique to the industry in that it incorporates all the benefits of the company’s successful DSU3 MEMS-based 3C sensor with two impressive additional advantages:

•Measurement of the sensor’s position to within less than a meter •Accurate measurement of the sensor’s azimuthal orientation Comesa said: “We are pleased to have concluded our first project in the southern region of Mexico using our DSUGPS system. The operating environment was very complex and we are very satisfied with the system’s performance. With this state-of-the-art technological capability, Comesa is assured of meeting our corporate goal of contributing to an increase in the reserves and production of our client PEMEX.”

Pascal Rouiller, CEO, Sercel, said: “The success of this first commercial deployment of the DSUGPS on what was a large, high-profile, 3D survey in a challenging environment in Mexico proves once again that Sercel delivers high-end products to its customers that perform as advertised from their very first deployment in the field. We would like to thank Comesa for their continuing confidence in Sercel and our technology.”
