Univar, a leading global chemical distributor, reported the successful integration of the Shell lubricants sales and marketing team in the Nordics, following the signing of a long-term distribution agreement announced late last year. This alignment offers customers the combined benefits of Shell’s outstanding technology resources with Univar’s customer-facing sales and marketing expertise.
All 105 members of Shell’s lubricants team in the Nordics have been relocated to Univar’s offices across Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, bringing with them a base of approximately 5,000 customers.
While Univar has operated in the Nordic market for many years, the addition of Shell’s branded lubricants to Univar’s portfolio has significantly increased the company’s Nordic presence, and advanced the company’s goal of becoming the premier chemical distributor in the Nordic region.
“Our top priority has been to ensure that the customers who are joining us from Shell experience a seamless transition in terms of the buying process and now receive as good or better service than they were used to at Shell,” explains Sören Andersson, General Manager Lubricants Nordics, Univar EMEA. “This has been a massive and complex customer-facing project and we are very proud of the fact that we have managed it successfully.”
“Shell is the number one global lubricants supplier,” says Sarim Sheikh, General Manager Distributor Markets Shell Lubricants. “For us it was essential to have a distributor that can bring our products to the market with the same level of professionalism and expertise our customers have come to expect. I’m confident that our customers in the Nordic market will significantly benefit from this alliance.”
“We have some very ambitious growth targets for Univar in the Nordics region as we are aiming to be the number one distributor in each of the four territories in which we operate,” says Ola Tengroth, Regional Director Nordics, Univar EMEA. “Working with Shell takes us a sizable step closer to achieving this goal.”
