Bulgaria has joined the $15-billion South Stream pipeline project led by Gazporm and ENI to bring Russian gas to central Mediterranean via the Black Sea, Bulgaria, Greece and Serbia, news agency Reuters reported Monday.
Bulgaria stands to earn $2 billion a year in transfer payments while operating a pipeline carrying gas to Italy.
Nothing was reported on wheter Black Sea fields being discovered off the Bulgarian coast will be able to make use of the gas-export line.
