Oil burses begain the week Monday with solid gains in Moscow and Oslo after a glum five days last week, when losses weighed most on trading.

Moscow’s RTS, stiffened by Gazprom and its subsidiaries, gained 7.88 percent, although the RTS Oil & Gas Index rose 12.22 percent on the performance of Lukoil, Gazprom, Rosneft and Sevmorneftegaz, all of which rose from between 2.5 and 3.4 percent.

Oil-focused Oslo, too, was up 6.05 percent out of the gate, with state income earner StatoilHydro turning in solid gains of 5.69 percent behind offshore construction entity Siem Offshore, which rose over 17 percent and fabricator GGG, up by over 15 percent.

A number of Canadian outfits listed in Oslo also turned up positive numbers on a solid day for Oslo Burse. Calgary-based Quebec explorer Questerre was up 11.68 percent, and big investments ahead didn't stop Artumas from positive gains.

The shares of over 40 energy companies rose in Oslo were all up ahead of lunchtime in Oslo.
