Milan-based oil company Eni has confirmed it was in meetings over the weekend with officials from the Ministry of Oil in Iraq’s capital Bagdad to discuss to discuss “specific” upstream, drilling and infrastructure projects in the war-ravaged country.
The company appears set to take part in Iraq’s build up to 4.5 million barrels of oil per day. The Ministry’s “major projects” toward boosting production by 2012 are set to begin this year and in 2009.
Iraq’s governors also aim to boost reserves above today’s figure of 115 billion barrels with an “exploration renaissance”, including new “Iraqi seismic crews”.
