StatoilHydro and partners have raised the reserve count at the North Sea Dagny discovery, where two reservoirs, after much study, were revealed in August to be one much larger field, or some 170 million barrels of oil equivalent.
Dagny at 15/5-1 looks set to be become a twin tie-back, together with discovery 15/6-9 S, to the veteran Sleipner platform just seven kilometres distant. A new well, borehole 15/5-7A, was the fourth to delineate the discovery.
Water in the area is 119 metres deep, although the well was drilled to some four kilometres below the waves.
Costs for the latest well will spread between licensees on the two Dagny licenses, PL 048 and PL 029, or: StatoilHydro, Total 20 percent and ExxonMobil.
