Bredford Dolphin Fred Olsen

U.S. indpendent Marathon Petroleum has drilled a duster west of Norway’s giant Troll gas field in the North Sea.

Rocks expected to be impregnated with gas or oil bore water only, and the Bjoern, or Bear prospect was consigned to long list of Jurassic-rock hopefuls.

The semi-submersible rig Bredford Dolphin drilled well 31/1-1 down to 2,895 metres below sea level. The drill rig will move to Block 16/9 and a wildcat well for Noil Energy.
