TGS-NOPEC announces new 3D survey in Tunisia-Spotlight

Oslo-based survey outfit TGS-Nopec said Tuesday it has oil company funding support for its sweep over 9,000 square kilometres of offshore Liberia.

The company said it could yet expand its “3D” look at Liberia’s geology, but it current mission covers blocks recently awarded oil companies by the National Oil Company Liberia.

The work will continue throughout 2009.

The company said it first surveyed troubled Liberia in 2001, and successful licensing rounds since then have grown to include Anadarko, Woodside, Repsol, Oranto, Broadway Consolidated and European Hydrocarbons.

First “data” is expected by June 2009.
