Ramco Energy launches renewables subsidiary

Oil and gas investment firm Ramco Energy said Monday it has set up a wind-power consortium to enter a bid in the United Kingdom’s third offshore wind park licensing round.

Ramco business SeaEnergy Renewables Ltd. will work with world windpower No. 4, EDPR, part of Portuguese energy giant EDP Group.

SeaEnergy was formed by Ramco in June 2008, around the team behind the Beatrice Wind Farm Demonstrator Project, a mixed group of oil and gas and power-sector expertise.

SeaEnergy now has “exclusivity” deals with The Crown Estate for two offshore wind farms in Scottish territorial waters: the 920 megawatt Beatrice, in the Moray Firth, and the 950 MW Inch Cape off the east coast of Scotland in the Outer Tay Estuary.

German oil and gas giant RWE’s RWE npower Renewables Ltd. has a 75 percent stake in Outer Tay.
