Southampton-based marine consent and survey consultancy, EMU Limited has doubled its turnover and taken on an additional 41 staff over the past 12 months, making it the UK’s leader in this growing sector.
The company’s rapid growth is primarily in response to demands from the expanding offshore renewables industry both in the UK and overseas.
The expansion means EMU Limited, established in 1997, now employs more than 120 marine-related professionals servicing clients from the wind, wave and tidal industry, marine aggregates, oil and gas sector, as well as ports and harbours.
EMU Limited Managing Director Bruce Tomlinson said the key for the company was managed expansion.
“We have rationalised our consultancy services to focus on our core areas of site selection, consenting and, most recently, marine policy to enable us to better service our current clients, while aiming to meet new business requests from our growing international client base,” Dr Tomlinson said.
“Ensuring we are at the forefront of shaping marine policy as well as implementing it is an important combination for us.
“In rationalising we have consolidated the peripheral services such as marine archaeology, to channel our expansion efforts into our key speciality areas,” he added.
EMU Limited offers both consultancy and survey services to developers, regulators and other organisations operating in the marine environment. The company specialises in marine consenting solutions and the provision of geophysical, hydrographic, geotechnical, oceanographic, marine ecology, and water quality and laboratory analysis services.
