SembCorp Marine’s PPL shipyard has won a US$198 million contract to build Offshore Group of Taiwann a jack-up rig, the fourth deal between the two since October 2006.
The Baker Marine Pacific Class 375 will be able to drill high-pressure, high-temperature wells 30,000 deep from atop 375 ft. of water.
Crews will start building the rig in third-quarter 2007 ahead of delivery by year-end 2009.
Since its launch in 2004, 20 jack-ups rigs based on this design have been ordered.
