Tullow Oil and partners have found gas and condensate in the shallow-water Ebony prospect offshore Ghana, and the company reports it might be the “comet’s tail”, with the deepwater oil prospect Tweneboa the comet itself.
“Successful logging and sampling operations have confirmed a four metre oil-bearing interval at 2,053 metres and a two metre high-pressure gas-condensate interval at 2,570 metres,” a statement Thursday trumpeted.
Tullow will drill a new deep water well in the Tweneboa prospect early next year.
Ebony-1 spud in the shallow water Tano Block.
Seismic indicates “there may be a connection” between Tweneboa oil and Ebony’s mix.
Tullow Oil operates Tano with a 31 percent stake and is joined by partners InterOil (31 percent) Thani Ghana (22 percent), Sabre Oil (4.5) and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation with 10 percent carried interest.
