Swiber fortunes up again on $29M order

Swiber barge work

Singapore offshore contractor Swiber Holdings Ltd. continued its “electric” pace of growth with a $29 million order announced Thursday for the installation of pipelines on behalf of an unnamed “Malaysian” company.

The offshore gas development’s owner has asked Swiber to hire what help it needs to get the engineering and fitting done by late 2008.

The work announcement brings the company order backlog to $506 million and comes just days after Swiber broke into the Indian market with a $127 million engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract with gas giant BG E&P India.

The work marks the third assignment for Swiber from Malaysian companies in 2008.
