Advanced Flow Technology Inc (AFTI), of Calgary Alberta, declared the release of Watch-DOG, a low-cost technology for monitoring oil wells. Watch-DOG provides producers with secure internet access to simple flow/no flow information which tells producers if a well is flowing or not.

"Watch-DOG provides the basic information oil producers need to know. Just because a pump jack is going up and down does not mean that oil is being pumped,” says Len Johnson, President of AFTI.

With Watch-DOG, anyone with an internet connection can see if the well is producing oil and the technology uses simple colour coded icons on a map to show the location of production problems. Watch-DOG, which is smaller than a breadbox and can easily be user installed, is so low cost it can pay back in as little as a day or two, adds Johnson.

The new oil well monitoring technology costs a fraction of more complex SCADA systems and provides information which is extremely easy to access and understand.

The new technology is the latest development in AFTI’s suite of products, which are designed to provide oil and gas producers with the ability to detect changes at the wellsite.
