Total E&P Nederland BV, an affiliate and subsidiary of oil and gas owner-operator Total SA, has awarded a contract to energy supply chain technology company Sharecat Solutions to provide a document management and collaborative information sharing environment for its K5CU North Sea gas project. Total, the world's fourth largest publicly traded integrated oil and gas company, will use SHAREcat to optimise project information handover into operations following the successful deployment of the solution for its L4G and K5F projects.
Under the contract SHAREcat's 'web-based collaborative portal' will support the exchange of engineering and other documents between Total and its K5CU contractors, allowing electronic document submission and tracking together with comment and approval processes. SHAREcat also provides the option to use tag management processes to capture registration and document linking from contractors to facilitate easy searching of their documents and drawings.
K5CU metrics include a largely unmanned 1,000 tonnes topside offshore platform comprising some 1,500 tags involving three contractors and relevant certifying authorities. The project duration of 21 months also includes modification processes to the existing K5A facility which will receive the hydrocarbons from the new platform.
SHAREcat has already been successfully implemented by Total to support three previous projects to share information and support project workflows. Total will now be using some of the additional functionality available to benefit the handover of K5CU project information into operations.
"SHAREcat will give Total maximum visibility of all technical information and its status, as well as providing earlier delivery of links to asset information to allow optimum commissioning, start-up and facilities handover" says Sharecat Solutions Limited Director Phil Gould.
