Turck has extended its cable range for its BIM-UNT sensor family for position detection in pneumatic cylinders. In addition to the standard PUR cable which is particularly suitable for applications with E-chains and which is resistant to oils and cooling lubricants, Turck also offers a heat-resistant as well as a food safe and chemically resistant cable for the sensors.
Under designation S1160 a halogen-free, irradiated, flame-resistant and contact heat resistant quality cable is in the range. This cable is particularly suitable for welding applications as well as where hot spatters can damage the cable. BIM-UNT sensors with S1160 cable are available as pigtails with 30 and 60 cm cable lenghts and M12x1 connector as well as 2 m cable lengths. Turck offers the S1165 (TPE) quality cable for application is areas where chemical resistance, food safety or temperature stability are primary requirements. Cables of this type are available in 2 m cable length for temperature ranges from -40°C up to +100°C.
The BIM-UNT can detect all standard magnets in pneumatic cylinders safely and without multiple switching points which makes the stocking of different sensor types redundant. With a total length of only 28 mm the BIM-UNT is one of the most compact sensors on the market. The active faces are located directly at the sensor end and thus enable a safe detection of the piston rod up to the endpostion at the compact short stroke cylinder. Apart from the vibration resistant mounting the excellent EMC properties guarantee high system availability. The BIM-UNT does not only fulfil the presently valid standard EN 609947-5-2, but also exceed the strict provisions of the coming amendment EN 61000-4-6, which will soon replace the current product standard for proximity switches.
An extensive accessory programme is available for the BIM-UNT. Apart from mounting tools for other cylinder types (e.g. profile, tie-rod, round or dovetail cylinders) the accessory set comprises as well the clip-on tools for fine tuning of the switching point, the fixation tools for subsequent recovery of the switching point and the clips for safe cable routing.
