Eni makes gas condensate discovery in the North Sea-Spotlight

Eni has been awarded the operatorships and participating interests in two exploration licenses in the Barents Sea, offshore Norway, and a participating interest in another license in the same area.

Eni has been awarded the three licenses following the 20th licensing round awards called by the Norwegian Government which ended on 30 April 2009. The three licenses include the Operatorship with an ownership interest of 40% in PL529 and PL533 and the participating interest in PL532 with an ownership interest of 30% (StatoilHydro is the operator of PL 532). This success in the Norwegian upstream confirms Eni's commitment to a region with a high potential for development.

Eni has been operating in Norway since 1964 and with a daily production of around 130,000 barrels of oil per day the company is one of the largest players in the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS). Eni operates in Norway through its subsidiary Eni Norge AS and is operator of 16 licenses, including the important Goliat hydrocarbon discovery in the Barents Sea. In the country Eni has interests in a number of exploration licenses and fields under development and in operation, including Ekofisk, Norne, Åsgard, Heidrun, Kristin, Mikkel and Urd.
