London-based CD-adapco is offering a 'No Engineer Left Behind' program that gives "free" CAE software and training worth $25,000 to recently unemployed or displaced engineers.

Engineers, the company says, can apply to their offices and get free licenses and training on STAR-CCM+, CD-adapco's widespread CFD code. The stated aim of the offer is to up the unemployed's future employability.

"The unfortunate state of the global economy has left many highly talented engineers as its innocent victims," company senior VP Dr Bill Clark said in a statement.

The leave-none-behind gesture ostensibly enhances computer-aided engineering skills in "one of the most buoyant areas of the engineering business".

Qualified engineers are invited to attend free training courses at any CD-adapco training facility worldwide. The training focuses on practical applications of STAR-CCM+ toward work in industries that include aerospace, defense and oil and gas.
