Delegates are being invited to book their places for the 17th SPE ICoTA European Well Intervention Conference, taking place at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on November 15 and 16.

The event, ‘Ensuring a North Sea Future Through Well Intervention’, will encompass the full range of practices including coiled tubing, slickline, e-line, light well intervention (LWI) and hydraulic workover, with experts joining forces to address the challenges and trends facing the sector.

Keynote speaker at the conference is Stuart Brown, Shell’s global well intervention theme lead, while SPE ICoTA’s conference chairman Callum Munro (of BP), will open the event with a welcome address.

Additional highlights during the two-day event include Matthew Law of Expro, discussing the company’s AX-S subsea well intervention technology and Chevron’s Stephanie Eveslage, speaking about the world’s first successful composite coiled tubing. Daniela Arghir of ConocoPhillips and Frode Hveding of Ziebel will discuss carbon rod intervention for horizontal well integrity diagnosis, while more than 35 companies will be on hand to showcase the latest technology and products.

The winner of ICoTA’s coveted Innovation Award will also be announced at the conference.

Chairman of ICoTA’s European chapter, Rob Grassick, said: “It is crucial to be equipped with the advanced technologies, information and industry know-how in order to enhance efficiency, reduce operational costs and stay at the top of the game.

“Well intervention is key in ensuring maximum gain from oil and gas wells that are nearing the end of their productive life. This conference will bring together completion and production engineers, business development and R&D professionals, and drilling experts amongst others, to discuss the latest challenges and developments related to this sector.

“The conference is a fixture on the industry calendar and is a great way to network with some of the leading figures in the European intervention and coiled tubing industry. Delegates can expect to leave with information on industry best practices, innovative technologies and strategies and I would encourage anyone with an interest to register and attend.”

SPE (Aberdeen Section) chair of continuing education, Michael Heaney, said: “SPE and ICOTA members have worked together to deliver a program that should be of interest to our members and provide another valuable opportunity for professionals all across this sector of the industry to enhance their technical and professional competence.”
