Bennex Transmark Norge of Bergen, Norway, reports that some time during the recent weekend a remote operated vehicle (ROV) was stolen from the company’s site in Nordre Toobodkai. The 1.2-metre long, 500 kilogram ROV is of no use to anyone not having the necessary control system and software that is needed for the unit to function.
Bennex is offering an NOK 20,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of the ROV, which is valued at NOK 2 million. “The ROV, which is owned by the Swedish Navy, will not be operable by anyone other than us or Argus Remote Systems who built it for us,” said project leader Nils-Eivind Holmedal. “The thieves, who must have used a truck or lorry, did not take the control system, which is necessary to use the vessel. Therefore, I hope that the thief realises its limited value and returns it as soon as possible,” added Mr. Holmedal.
Any information about the stolen ROV can be communicated to Bennex Transmark Norge during office hours by telephone: +47 55 30 98 00, or any other time at +47 970 22 000.
