LNG

Aussie outfit Woodside Petroleum has made terms with CPC Corp. of Taiwan for the “potential sale” of up to 3 million tonnes a year of liquefied natural gas from the undeveloped Browse LNG project.

The agreement with CPC does not include any of the Browse project’s other joint-venture partners, although the deal “provides the opportunity for commingled sales”.

Terms for 15 to 20 years of sales starting by 2015 are understood to already include price.

The deal is a valuable foothold in Taiwan, which is said to be Asia’s third largest LNG market behind Japan and South Korea.
